How the Matching Actually Works, Not Just What It Promises

16 July 2026 4 min read

"AI-matched" gets thrown around a lot in job search tools, often meaning little more than a keyword filter. Here's what actually happens when you upload a CV.

Where the jobs come from

For Finland, we search Työmarkkinatori — the Finnish government's official job market — first, since its listings are the most current and verified. If that doesn't return enough results, we automatically fall back to CareerJet, JSearch (which itself aggregates Indeed, LinkedIn, and Glassdoor listings), and Duunitori's feed. For EU and global searches, we pull from RemoteOK, Jobicy, and Arbeitnow. Everything is merged and deduplicated before you ever see it — no listing appears twice because it happened to show up in two sources.

Reading your CV

When you upload a CV, AI extracts the structured content — job titles, skills, education, certifications, languages — rather than treating it as a flat wall of text. That structure is what makes accurate scoring and later tailoring possible.

What the match percentage means

Each job is scored 0–100 against your specific CV, not against a generic profile for your job title. Above 70% is a strong match. 50–70% is worth applying to, but tailoring your CV first will help. Below 50% usually means a specific, important requirement is genuinely missing from your background — worth knowing before you spend an evening on a cover letter.

New matches, not the same ones on repeat

The matching pool rotates and expands rather than showing you the identical shortlist every day — once you've seen a job, it stays in your history (saved, applied, or skipped) instead of reappearing as if it were new, and fresh candidates from the pool take its place.

It explains itself

Every match comes with the reasoning behind the score, not just the number — so you can judge for yourself whether a 62% match is a "definitely apply" or a "probably skip" for your specific situation.
